Anyone who has had any association with St
Christopher’s Cathedral Bahrain over the last 50 years will at least
be familiar with the name of Gerald Green and the role he has
played in its history and a character integrally bound up in its
life.
Gerald died peacefully in Awali hospital at around 1.30 p.m. on
Saturday 10th March after 15 months being totally incapacitated
following a brain hemorrhage on 15th October 2005. Gerald would have
been devastated had he known beforehand that he was to endure this
fate. His final wish was to be buried as soon as possible after his
death and his desire was fulfilled as quickly as was practicable. He
was buried at midday on Sunday 11th in the new Christian cemetery.
The name of Gerald Green was inextricably linked to that of St
Christopher’s Cathedral, Bahrain. Aged 91 Gerald had been around a
long time and played many roles in his life. His prestigious awards,
commendation and medals are testimony to this, not least of course
his role in the life of the Royal family here in Bahrain
particularly under the previous ruler Sheikh Isa. All this we shall
gather up at the memorial service at St Christopher’s at 3 p.m. on
Saturday 21st April.
We thank God for a true and faithful friend to so many and one who
has remained firm in his faith and principals right to the very end.
