Provincial Clergy Conference
The worldwide Anglican Church is not only divided up
into dioceses presided over by a bishop but dioceses are
grouped together into provinces. In each province one of
the diocesan bishops acts as the senior or ‘president
bishop’ of a province. In our case we, the Diocese of
Cyprus and the Gulf, are in the Province of Jerusalem
and the Middle East. This province is made up of the
dioceses of Egypt, Jerusalem, Iran and our own diocese.
Our own bishop Clive happens to be the ‘presiding
bishop’ at the moment.
Every few years all the clergy of the province are
called to meet together in conference and this gathering
takes place at Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt from 14th – 17th
February. Naturally Fr. Victor and I will be away for
that period. During that time the Rev’d. Dennis Gurney
and his wife Naomi will be staying in the Bishop’s flat
and covering the services at St Christopher’s in our
absence. We look forward very much to welcoming them
back to Bahrain and have them living among us.
