Grasping the future for our worship
|
On Friday August 5th St. Christopher’s Cathedral took one small step into the age of technology (some might say a very small and very belated step). Thanks to an anonymous donor (to whom we are truly grateful) we have acquired a projector and laptop enabling hymns to be projected clearly on screen via Windows PowerPoint with the exciting promise of unlimited versatility in our worship, sermon presentation and congregational interaction. The advent of this ‘new fangled’ way of doing things has met with whole- hearted support and encouragement. We look forward to more exciting developments as we become more adept at using the technology. Coupled with the lack of a regular organist at 9.30 a.m. on Friday mornings we have discovered, perhaps late in the day, that our cathedral organ will in fact ‘play itself’, or at least has the facility to prerecord and play back the accompaniment to any hymns, and will play any music on CD we desire. Of course the laptop computer has endless possibilities for musical performance at our disposal-yet to be discovered! Other churches have long ago discovered this God given boon to their worship. Yes, the opportunities are unlimited and exciting opening up whole new way of worshiping together which we are just beginning to grasp. If you can help with technical advice and ‘know how’ then please do come forward and share your gifts helping us grasp the present and future in our worship. A.H |
