Bahrain Marathon Relay - The Holy Strollers - "Armageddon"
|
The Cathedral has been involved with the Marathon Relay since it first started 23 years ago. After a lapse of a few years we entered "The Holy Strollers- The Resurrection" in 2000.
In 2001 we were "The Ascension", followed by "The Second Coming" and
this year we were known as "The Holy Strollers- Armageddon". We seem to get the race number 1 on the day. The Marathon Relay is a race that starts in Awali and has 16 legs of about 3km each. It's the major fund raiser for the Bahrain Round Table and 75 teams entered this year. We came 49th with an average speed of 5 minutes a kilometre.
This year we had the Morris family running for us. Ken Morris died
after a training run a week before the event. Ken aged 62 had lived
in Bahrain for over 20 years and his leg was run by his son who
handed over to Eileen his wife. |
