The Very Rev'd Keith Johnson is from London, England, as is his wife, Pat.

He has had a long association with the Gulf.  He went to Kuwait in 1969 as Anglican Chaplain in Kuwait.  He worked for Kuwait Oil Company for four years, under the designation of “Non-Catholic Chaplain” at St. Paul’s, Ahmadi.   Returning to England he became Vicar of a Thameside parish in South-East London, and joined the Board of Directors of the Jerusalem and the East Mission.   He remained in touch with the churches of the Middle East while serving in three more parishes in England, and was a founding member of the Friends of Cyprus and the Gulf when the new Diocese was inaugurated.

In 1997 he returned to the Gulf as Provost of St. Christopher’s Cathedral. The daily schedule of services keeps him busy in Manama and Awali, and he also is closely involved with St. Christopher’s School, taking assemblies in the Infants, Junior and Senior Schools. He also visits the British School for assemblies and is a member of  Manama Rotary Club.

At the
Synod in Cyprus in January 2001, Bishop
Clive announced that he is changing the title of Provost of St. Paul's Cathedral, Nicosia and St. Christopher's Cathedral to Dean, in line with the recent changes in the Church of England. He feels that most people understand what a Dean does, and are less familiar with the name Provost.

In the Dean’s house the list of indoor cats has risen to six including three Siamese and two “Dilmun” (Bahraini)!  We have taken in "Purdy", a kitten who is sister to one of the two Bahraini cats, and she has lost an eye after an abscess developed.  Pat felt she wouldn't survive outside.  She is full of life and copes very well on one eye!     Outside, Pat continues to feed  other Dilmun cats of assorted colours and temperaments.
