Prayer

THE EPISCOPAL CHURCH IN JERUSALEM AND THE MIDDLE EAST
A PROVINCE OF THE ANGLICAN COMMUNION

Our prayers are requested for the Province over the All Saints weekend 29-31st October. Please remember in your prayers…

Our Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf covers Oman, the Yemen, the seven United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Iraq, and the whole of Cyprus. Although we worship largely in English we also in specific locations have liturgy in Arabic, Syriac-Aramaic, and Urdu.(Bishop Azad Marshall of Iran has a particular ministry to the Urdu-speaking congregations within our diocese).

The Diocese of Egypt covers Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, and Somalia (including secessionist regions), as well as Egypt itself. It has a good number of educational facilities and hospitals as well as churches. Almost all its clergy are native speakers of Arabic. Bishop Mouneer Hanna Anis is assisted by Bishops Andrew Proud in Addis Ababa and Bill Musk in Tunis.

The Diocese of Iran is coterminous with the Republic of Iran. It is slowly rebuilding itself after great attrition in and after 1979. It is led by Bishop Azad Marshall.

The Diocese of Jerusalem serves Palestine, Israel, the Lebanon, Jordan, and Syria. It, like Egypt, has many institutions, inlcuding well respected schools and medical centres such as Christ School in Nazareth and al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza. Difficulties of travel abound. Bishop Suheil Dawani leads the diocese.
